Better than nothing?

DSCF0197Unnerving, isn’t it?

We’re so used to constant entertainment that it seems strange to find a gap.

When the TV is on every waking hour, and we’re surrounded by people and music and activity all day, can we really find the concentration we need to think clearly?

Are these futile entertainments really better than nothing? Why are we so averse to silence and solitude?

It’s often hard to achieve real peace in the modern world. We’re trapped under layers of sound, with constant interruptions everywhere.

Finding outer peace can help us find inner peace and a time of tranquil solitude can be the space we needed to help our creativity to flower.

Let’s be more discriminating in the things we fill our lives with, and make opportunities for quiet reflection in every day, because only then can we… oh, must go – the phone’s ringing.
